Red Hat的CEO Jim Whitehurst接受了采訪，被問到Red Hat是否有意涉足數(shù)據(jù)庫市場的時候，Whitehurst的回答是肯定的，并且表示可能會是在NoSQL領(lǐng)域。以下是其原話：

“When I say I don’t want to be a database company, I’m saying that I don’t want to be a SQL database company,” Whitehurst said.

我說我們不想成為一個數(shù)據(jù)庫公司的時候，我指的是不想成為一個SQL數(shù)據(jù)庫公司。

“But we would be very interested in a NoSQL type database or Hadoop type thing,” Whitehurst said. “Those are interesting as they represent net new.”

但是我們對NoSQL數(shù)據(jù)庫，或者說是Hadoop相關(guān)的東西非常感興趣，因為他們代表著一個新的技術(shù)時代。

其實早在去年五月份Red Hat官方就透露過這樣的想法：

“We have consistently noted that the database remains a missing layer in Red Hat’s software stack… and would see advantages in adding an open source NoSQL database to its portfolio to target MySQL users.”

我們已經(jīng)意識到在我們的整個產(chǎn)品鏈中數(shù)據(jù)庫是缺失的重要一環(huán)，我們相信為MySQL的用戶帶來一款開源的NoSQL數(shù)據(jù)庫會是一件很不錯的事。

其實在之前的OpenShift PaaS中，Red Hat就已經(jīng)對MongoDB和Membase有所支持，估計在后續(xù)對NoSQL的選擇中，這兩者將會有一定的優(yōu)勢。而在Hadoop上面，與Cloudera、Hortonworks的合作都有相當(dāng)大的可能，或者是DataStax這樣Cassandra和Hadoop都支持的提供商也可能會是一個比較好的選擇。
