Fedora項目是一份由Red Hat策劃的開放開發(fā)項目，它向普通參與者開放并由精英管理者領(lǐng)導(dǎo)，沿著一系列項目目標而前進。Fedora項目的目標是與Linux社區(qū)協(xié)作，只從開放源碼軟件來創(chuàng)建一份完整的、通用的操作系統(tǒng)。其開發(fā)過程是以公開論壇的形式進行的。項目將按時間計劃，每年作兩到三次Fedora的發(fā)布，并提供一份公開的發(fā)布日程表。Red Hat工程組將繼續(xù)參與Fedora的開發(fā)，并且將比以往更多地邀請和鼓勵外界的參與。通過采用這樣一種更加開放的過程，我們希望能提供一份更加符合自由軟件理念并且對開放源碼社區(qū)更具吸引力的操作系統(tǒng)。

Seth Vidal has announced the availability of the preview release of Fedora 11, the last public development build before the final release on 26 May: "Thisis the Fedora 11 Preview release, we're just a short time fromreleasing the full shebang. Therefore we need the most testing we canpossibly get on this one. Major features: automatic font and mime-typeinstallation; volume control with PulseAudio; Intel, ATI and NVIDIAkernel modsetting; fingerprint readers as an authentication mechanism;IBus input method system for Asian languages; ext4 file system; MinGW(Windows cross compiler)."
